    1.0 Introduction This manual provides the steps to uncrate, assemble, and install the ETS-Lindgren Model 5411 Gigahertz Transverse Electromagnetic (GTEM!™) Cell. Steps to install optional components are also included. The uncrating, assembly, and installation of the Model 5411 must be performed by factory installation specialists or individuals authorized by ETS-Lindgren to perform installation.

Upon delivery of your order, inspect the shipping container(s) for evidence of damage. Record any damage on the delivery receipt before signing it. In case of concealed damage or loss, retain the packing materials for inspection by the carrier.

    Correctly Install Bronze Wool Bronze wool (RP52201) must be tucked into the corners of the inner and outer corner joints and wall and roof assemblies. Using TAPTITE Screws Wax (DoAll-type, or comparable) is required on all TAPTITE® screws. No flat or lock washers are necessary.

    4.0 GTEM! Uncrating Instructions Always wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) appropriate to the task you are performing, such as gloves, safety glasses, and steel-toed boots. The uncrating process will expose sharp nails and fasteners. Wear appropriate PPE and use caution when handling these items.

    Uncrate Components A standard Model 5411 configuration is typically shipped in the four crates, Crate A, Crate B, Crate C, and Crate D. The number and size of shipping crates may vary for custom Model 5411 configurations.   • Page 49 Along the inside of one end, the inner and outer corner joints are stamped with a reference ID such as EF, GH, JK, and so on. The reference ID will always be assembled with the markings closest to the front or feed section of the Model 5411.

  • Page 51 At the corner of the door is a safety switch. The customer may choose to connect this safety switch to an indicator, such as a lamp or other type of light. When connected, opening or closing the door turns off or on the indictor to alert that a test is in progress.

  • Page 53 To fasten the rear of the septum plate to the feed septum plate: The septum plate thickness varies. Use either M4 x 6 Phillips flat-head or M4 x 8 Phillips flat-head screws. Either screw not used may be discarded. The screw threads must protrude through both septum plates but not beyond the surface of the septum assemblies.

    37. If necessary, use a Phillips screwdriver to carefully loosen (but do not remove) the rear septum adjustment brackets fastened to the KEVLAR braided rope. This will raise or lower the rear septum to adjust the rear septum to the feed septum angle of projection.

Install bottom frame adjustment arms to side wall using M8 x 35 hex cap screws (930747). 43. Repeat step 41 to install the top absorber assembly into top angle mounts, and then secure with clevis pins and cotter pins.
  • Page 57 45. Adjust absorbers as needed. Insert stuffers into spaces around entire perimeter, but do not insert into PCA area. 46. From inside the Model 5411, replace 2-ft x 2-ft white foam caps onto absorber tips. Be careful not to damage the tips.

  • Page 59 52. Assemble the horizontal joint strip: Attach channel rear wall outer to horizontal inner rear wall joint strip between the upper and lower panels. The rear wall assembly is heavy and bulky. When installing, use extreme caution to avoid damage to the shielding strip or absorber.

  • Page 61 56. Check the shielding strip located between the upper and lower transitions at the rear of the septum to make sure the shielding strip is not damaged or obstructed. If required, replace shielding strip. GTEM! Assembly Instructions...
  • Page 62 Do not completely remove the screws, or the contact angles can fall behind the wall, requiring removal of the rear wall to retrieve. 57. You can raise or lower the contact angles by slightly loosening the screws directly below the access panel opening. Using a screwdriver, loosen the four contact angle screws and lower them.

Install PCAs: This requires one person inside the Model 5411 to align the PCA between the upper and lower transitions at the rear of the septum, and one person outside to keep the PCA and the contact angle aligned. Insert one PCA, component side up, with either end through the rear opening.
