Depletion Mode IGBTs

Like MOSFETs, IGBTs are available as enhancement
mode and depletion mode types.
Depletion mode IGBTs are characterised by the fact that
current can flow between the collector and emitter when there is zero voltage
across the gate-emitter terminals.
For an N-Channel depletion mode IGBT, the device can only be turned off
fully if the gate terminal is taken more negative with respect to the emitter lead.
In this example we have an N-Channel
depletion mode IGBT with no free
wheeling diode.

mode device.
The DCA Pro can drive the gate from
0V to -5V for depletion mode IGBTs.
