PRIMING THE PUMP
Risk of damage to pump or other equipment.
Do not attempt to run the pump without water; this could result in permanent damage to the pump.
1.
Remove the priming plug located on the top of the pump casing.
2. Fill the casing with water.
3. Replace the priming plug.
4. To prime under pressure, do one of the following to keep liquid in the discharge pipe:
Place a check valve on the discharge line of the pump and place a petcock or a ball-type air
bleeder in place of the priming plug.
Place an air bleed line with a gate valve connected to the discharge line.
5. Start the pump.
If an exceptionally long suction line is used, the pump casing may become overheated or vapor-
locked. Should this occur, replace the water in the casing with cold water and continue priming.
If the pump does not deliver water within seconds, stop the motor and prime pump again.
Several starting attempts may be necessary to expel all air from the pump and suction lines.
