3. Move the choke/throttle lever to the Choke
position (Figure 18).
4. Hold the blade control bar against the handle and
pull the recoil starter once or twice (Figure 24).
Note: Pull the recoil start handle lightly until you
feel resistance, then pull it briskly.

5. Move the choke/throttle lever to the Fast position
(Figure 18).
6. Hold the blade control bar against the handle and
pull the recoil starter (Figure 24).
7. If the mower does not start in 1 or 2 pulls, repeat
steps 3 through 6.
Note: If the mower still does not start, contact an
Authorized Service Dealer.
Stopping the Engine
Service Interval: Before each use or daily
To stop the engine, release the blade control bar
(Figure 25).
Important: When you release the blade control
bar, both the engine and blade should stop within
3 seconds. If they do not stop properly, stop
using your mower immediately and contact an
Authorized Service Dealer.
