IMPORTANT! A new battery pack MUST be fully charged prior to the initial use of your
scooter. Charge the new battery pack for 12 hours even if the battery gauge already
shows a full charge. This is to condition your new battery pack for maximum
performance.

BATTERY PACK AND CHARGING

Battery maintenance is the most important part of maintaining your scooter. Keeping the
battery pack fully charged helps to extend battery life. Use the following guidelines to
help keep your battery pack in optimum condition.
• For daily use, keep battery pack fully charged. We recommend that you plug in the
off-board charger after each use and charge 6-8 hours.
"For best results please charge your battery pack overnight after every use."
• If you are not going to use the scooter for more than a week, fully charge the battery
pack and then remove the battery pack from the scooter. See figure 13 on page 23.
Charging Guidelines Checklist to Maximize Battery Life
✓ Use only the automatic off-board charger supplied for all routine charging.
✓ Never use an automotive or wet type charger.
✓ Avoid deep discharges and never drain the battery pack completely.
✓ Do not leave the battery pack in a low state of charge for
extended periods. Charge a discharged battery as soon as possible.
✓ Fully recharge the battery pack regularly.
✓ Always store the battery pack fully charged.
✓ Check a stored battery pack once a month and recharge
as necessary.
To Charge the Battery Pack:
The charger for your Carry On is an off-board charger.
To charge the battery pack, plug the charger into the charger
port on the bottom side of the battery pack or control panel.
See figures 24 and 25. When the battery pack is fully charged,
disconnect the charger power cord from the wall outlet and
from the charging socket. Note: Your scooter will not move
while the charger remains connected.
Battery Maintenance
MANDATORY! Use only the recommended type/size Lithium Ion battery pack listed in
the "Specification" on page 15 for operating all Golden Carry On scooters.
• The battery pack is maintenance free.
• There is no danger of spillage or leakage, so the battery pack is safely transportable on
aircraft, buses, trains, etc. Check with your specific airline, boat, or train for their
specific rules prior to traveling.
• By following the procedures set out in this manual, you can expect extended life from
your Golden Carry On's battery pack.
