Introduction This document provides the operating system installation steps for the Dell EMC Virtual Edge Platform (VEP) 1405 series of systems. Create a serial console connection To create a serial console connection, perform the following steps: 1. Use a micro USB to USB type-A cable to establish a connection between the VEP1405 series micro USB console port and the personal computer. NOTE: Ensure that you have the driver for the CP210X USB - UART Bridge VCP from Silicon Labs installed.

If this occurs, you must power the VEP1405 unit off and power it on again to restart the boot up process.
Create bootable USB drive Dell EMC recommends you use Rufus to create the bootable USB drive. To download the latest version of Rufus, see https://rufus.ie 1. Insert the USB drive into the system running Microsoft Windows. The Rufus window displays.

Create bootable USB drive for ESXi 6.7 NOTE: Dell EMC recommends you use Rufus to create the bootable USB drive. To download the latest version of Rufus, https://rufus.ie Before you install VMware ESXi 6.7, you must first download the ISO image locally and then create a bootable USB drive.

Install VMware ESXi 6.7 operating system To install the VMware ESXi 6.7 operating system, perform the following steps: 1. From the Welcome to the VMware ESXi 6.7 Installation screen, press Enter to continue. The End User License Agreement (EULA) screen displays.
