When replacing the belts, to prevent damage to your
tractor, use only original equipment belts (see Repair
Parts section of this manual). NEVER USE A SUBSTI-
TUTE.
REPLACE THE TRACTOR DRIVE BELT
(Figure 8)
To replace the tractor drive belt follow the steps below:
1. Remove the mower deck. (Refer to Remove The
Mower Deck paragraph.)
2. Depress the clutch-brake pedal and set the
parking brake.
3. Note position of idler belt guide. Loosen the belt
retainer on the clutching idler pulley and remove belt
from clutching idler pulley.
4. Remove the belt from the engine pulley (roll the
belt off over the top of the pulley).
5. Remove the belt from the transaxle pulley and
replace with a new original equipment belt. Install the
new belt in reverse order of removal.

6. Refer to Adjust Tractor Clutch paragraph (in the
Adjust Your Tractor section of this manual) and adjust
the tractor clutch.
7. Check the tractor brake adjustment. If you need to
adjust the brake, refer to the Adjust The Tractor Brake
paragraph in the Adjust Your Tractor section of this
manual.
NOTE
If the mower blade drive belt is to be replaced, do
so before reinstalling the mower deck assembly. .
