ADJUST YOUR TRACTOR
ADJUST THE MOWER DECK HEIGHT
(Figure 15)
NOTE
Before you check the mower deck height, check
the air pressure in all four tires. All tires must be
properly inflated. Correct air pressure (1 0-14 lbs.)
may be printed on the sidewall of each tire. Also, be
sure the main frame is level across the front (from
the left side to the right side). If the main frame
does not sit level, the two axle mounting screws
may be too tight. The two mounting screws must be
loose enough to allow the front axle to pivot.
To check the mower deck for proper height, do the
following:
1. Park the tractor on a firm level surface, such as a
driveway or garage floor.
2. Put the mower deck height adjustment lever in the
low cut position.
3. Use a piece of cardboard or piece of wood to
measure the height from the bottom of the right hand
blade mounting screw to the ground. NOTE: To mea-
sure the deck height on the right hand side of the deck
you may need to move the discharge chute out of the
way. If the height is other than 1-1/4 inches, you need to
adjust the height.
To adjust the mower deck height, do the following:
1. Write the difference in the height between the
1-1/4 inch measurement and the distance you mea-
sured between the right hand blade mounting screw
and the ground.

2. Set the height adjustment lever in the lowest cut
position. ·
3. Put a block under the mower deck high enough to
release the tension on the mower deck height
adjustment cable.
4. Loosen the three 5/16 inch wide flange hex
locknuts enough to allow the height adjustment bracket
to move freely.
5. Move the height adjustment bracket 1/2 the
difference you wrote down in step 1. Example: The dis-
tance from the right blade mounting screw to the
ground is 2 inches. The difference is 3/4 inch. Move the
height adjustment bracket 3/8 inch.
NOTE
When you move the height adjustment bracket
toward the the rear of the tractor, you

mower deck. When you move the height adjust-
ment bracket toward the front of the tractor you
~the
deck.
6. Tighten the three 5/16 inch wide flange locknuts
and put the mower deck height adjustment lever in the
high cut position to remove the block from under the
deck.
7. Check the mower deck height again following the
instructions above.
8. If you need to adjust more, follow steps 1 through
7. If the
mow~r
deck height is correct, go to step 9.
9. Check to be sure the mower deck is still level.
Refer to the Adjust The Mower Deck Level
paragraph.
