5.4 Calibration
Corporate guidelines prescribe that all companies operating with a quality assurance system must regu-
larly calibrate their instruments and equipment. Calibration must ensure that the unit complies with the
stipulated specifications.
When should calibration be carried out?
Calibration relates to the dosing volume of the pump as a function of the tube.
Calibrate;
• If a new tube type is used and added to the tube calibration store for later use.
• If using culture media with greatly differing viscosities are used.
• At regular intervals, e.g. every 3 months.
• If the silicone tubing flexibility changes and results in a general volume drift. This is based on many
autoclaving cycles, standard tube flexibility loss, age, UV exposure e.g.)

5.5 Troubleshooting
5.5.1 Overview
The D

1000 software incorporates troubleshooting routines which can be used to correct certain

problems without action on the part of after-sales servicing technicians.
If a problem occurs on the D
