TROUBLES AND ACTIONS
METHOD FOR REMOVING AND INSTALLING BATTERY
1.
Open hydraulic tank inspection cover (1).
2.
Turn the battery disconnect switch to OFF position (O).
3.
Remove nuts (A) and (B) (4 places each) of mounting fix-
ture for battery.
4.
Loosen the terminal nut and disconnect the cable from the
battery.
Remove the ground cable (normally connected to the neg-
ative (-) terminal) first.
If any tool touches the positive terminal of the battery and
the chassis, there is a danger that it will cause a spark.
5.
Replace the battery.
6.
After replacing the battery, secure it with the battery
mounting fixtures according to the following procedure. (4 places)
1)
Tighten nuts (A) evenly into the right and left rods by hand.
2)
Tighten nuts (A).
Tightening torque: 1.96 to 2.94 Nm {0.2 to 0.3 kgm, 1.45 to 2.17 lbft}
3)
Tighten nuts (B) by hand until they touch the face of nuts (A).
4)
Hold nuts (A) with a wrench, and tighten nuts (B).
Tightening torque: 11.8 to 19.6 Nm {1.2 to 2.0 kgm, 8.68 to 14.5 lbft}
7.
Insert the terminal hole into the battery and tighten the nut.
When installing the battery, connect the ground cable last.
8.
Turn the battery disconnect switch to ON position (I).
9.
Close the battery inspection cover.
