Find a suitable attachment such as a strong tree trunk or rock. Note that your
winch has a huge traction force.
Always use a noose as an attachment point.
WARNING do not attach the load hook back to the rope, as this could
damage the rope. This is shown in figure 3.1
Fig 3.1
WARNING do not use the winch at an acute angle, as this stacks the rope on
one side of the drum, which could damage the rope and winch. This is shown in
figure 3.2
Short pulls can be used at an angle to align the vehicle straight. Long pulls
should be carried out with the rope at a 90 degree angle to the winch/vehicle.
Fig 3.2
Applies mandatory for steel cables: If you pull a heavy load, place a blanket or
impact protection mat over the rope about one to two feet from the hook. If the
rope breaks, the snap is dampened. For additional protection, you can open the
bonnet of the vehicle. As shown in Figure 3.3.
Fig 3.3
For pulls over 70% nominal pull force, we recommend using a pulley to halve the
required effort.
Fig 3.4
WARNING - never use your winch to lift up items and people.
