Adjust
the special
nut
so that
the tape edge
runs
between
the audio

end
and
the
control

should
be of about
the same width.
Since at
this
point
it is only
required
that
the control

is picked
up
and
the

works
normally,
no adjusting

except
the

Height
Adjustment
(See Fig. 6+5.)
The
P90
mechanism
entrance
side
fixed
guide
comes
in
two
types ;
the
one
in this
unit
is
equipped
with
an upper flange
and a spring
coil,
and it requires
height
adjustment.
The other
type
is n~t provided
with
an upper flange and a spring
coil. Height
is naturally
set when
the special
nut
is fastened,
so adjustment
is not required.
For
units
with
an
upper
flange,
perform
height
adjustment
as explained
below.
Even for
types
which
do
not
require
height
adjustment,
check
whether
the
lower
tape
edge runs along
the lower
flange.
Be careful
not
to
fasten
the
special
nut
excessively,
causing
the axle to run idle.
1) Rotate
the fixed
guide (S) counterclockwise
to
lift
the
tape
somewhat,
then
insert
the
fixed
guide
height
gage
(VHJ-0053)
into
the
lower
side
of
the
fixed
guide
(S)
lower
flange.
2)
Rotate
the
fixed
guide (S) special nut clockwise
a little
at a time
until
the lower flange
makes
contact
with the upper surface of the fixed guide
height
gage, causing
a slight
drag.
3) After rotating the special nut 90° counterclockwise,
remove
the Axed
guide
height
gauge.
4) After
adjusting
the guide rollers in section
5-4-
4, play
back
the
alignment
tape (VHJ-0009).
Confirm
that
the tape lower edge runs in close
contact
with
the fixed
guide (S) lower
flange.
In
case
too
much
presstire
has
left
a gap
between
the
tape
and
the
lower
flange,
or
excessive
lifting
has caused curling
of the tape
lower edge, perform
fine adjustment.
However, do
not adjust
the special nut beyond 90" clockwise
and 45°
counterclockwise.
