Chapter 1. Introduction

The IBM

compatible with IBM BladeCenter

units that have an advanced management module installed. The appliance is a

double-wide configuration that installs in two adjacent blade bays of the

BladeCenter unit.

Important: If the IBM WebSphere DataPower Integration Blade XI50B is purchased

through Passport Advantage, the machine type is Type 2426-4BX. This document

applies to Type 4195-4BX and to Type 2426-4BX appliances until otherwise

indicated in new editions.

Note: Unless otherwise stated, references to the BladeCenter unit apply to all

supported BladeCenter unit types.

This Installation and User's Guide provides information about:

v Setting up the blade appliance

v Starting and configuring the blade appliance

v Performing basic troubleshooting of the blade appliance

v Replacement parts for the blade appliance

Packaged with this document are resource CDs that help you to configure

hardware and system software.

The blade appliance comes with a limited warranty. For information about the

terms of the warranty and getting service and assistance, see the Warranty

Information document for your blade appliance on the IBM Documentation CD.

The blade appliance might have features that are not described in the

documentation that comes with the blade appliance, and the documentation might

be updated occasionally to include information about those features, or technical

updates might be available to provide additional information that is not included

in the blade appliance documentation.
