NOTE:
To install the HP 7904 switch in a 19-inch rack, make sure the distance from the front post to the front
door is no less than 100 mm (3.94 in), the distance from the front post to the rear post is in the range
from 590 mm (23.23 in) to 980 mm (38.58 in), and the distance from the front post to the rear door is
no less than 830 mm (32.68 in).
If a rack shelf is available, you can put the HP 7904 switch on the rack shelf, slide the switch to an
appropriate location, and attach the switch to the rack with the mounting brackets.
Attaching the mounting brackets, chassis rails, and grounding
cable to the chassis
The HP 7904 switch has one front mounting position (near the network ports) and one rear mounting
position (near the power supplies). The switch also has one primary grounding point (with a grounding
sign) and one auxiliary grounding point. Determine the positions for the mounting brackets and
grounding cable before installation.

Attaching the mounting brackets and chassis rails to the chassis

Align the screw holes in the mounting brackets with the screw holes in the rear mounting position

Use M4 screws (supplied with the switch) to attach the mounting brackets to the chassis.

Align the screw holes in the chassis rails with the rail mounting holes in the chassis:
If the mounting brackets are in the rear mounting position, align the screw holes in the chassis
