half full, and should be replaced when it be-
comes clogged with dust. To empty or replace
bag, squeeze the tabs on the mounting ring, pull
bag free of dust port adapter, and empty con-
tents of bag into a suitable receptacle.
For added efficiency, a vacuum hose is also
available which will allow your sander to be
connected to a shop vacuum system. See your
Bosch catalog for this and other optional Bosch
Airsweep accessories.
In some applications, the dust bag may be
inconvenient to use. For this reason, dust port
plug 8 is supplied to seal the dust port when the
bag is not used. Plug 8 may be fastened to the
cord strain relief when it is not in use.
Rubber Baseplate
After considerable service, the rubber baseplate
7 will become worn and will cause uneven
sanding. When the edges or surface of baseplate
7 show excessive rounding or fraying, replace
the baseplate at any Bosch Factory or Bosch
Authorized Service Center, and proper sanding
performance will be restored.
Optional Accessories
Your Bosch distributor can provide a wide
range of accessories for your sander including;
A full line of premium-quality Bosch sanding

Maintenance and Service

WARNING!
formed by unauthorized personnel may result
in misplacing of internal wires and components
which could cause serious hazard. We recom-
mend that all tool service be performed at a
Bosch Factory Service Center.
Your Bosch tool has been properly lubricated
and is ready for use. We recommend, that tools
with gears be regreased with a special gear
lubricant every time the brushes are changed.
The brushes and commutator in your Bosch
tool have been engineered for many hours of
dependable service. To maintain peak effi-
ciency of the motor, we recommend that every
two to six months the brushes be examined.
Only genuine Bosch replacement brushes spe-
cially designed for your tool should be used.
After about 300-400 hours of operation, or at
every second brush change, the bearings should
be replaced at a Bosch Factory Service Center.
Bearings which become noisy (due to heavy
load or very abrasive material cutting) should
be replaced at once to avoid overheating and
motor failure.
WARNING!
disconnect the tool from the power supply
before cleaning or performing any maintenance.
The tool may be cleaned most effectively with
compressed air. Always wear safety goggles
when cleaning tools with compressed air.
Ventilation openings and switch levers must be
kept clean and free of foreign matter. Do not
attempt to clean by inserting pointed objects
through openings.
CAUTION!

are: gasoline, carbon tetrachloride, chlorinated
cleaning solvents, ammonia and household
