Surveillance Camera

These operating instructions are intended for the
installer of the camera. Please read the operating
instructions carefully prior to installation and keep
them for later reference.
1 Applications
This high-resolution colour camera is especially designed
for use in video surveillance systems (CCTV). It is
equipped with a motor-controlled lens with variable focal
length (6 – 50 mm) and autofocus. In addition, the camera
features automatic day/ night switching with infrared sup-
pression filter, backlight compensation, digital noise
reduction, mirror-inverted image display, zoom, motion
detection and a masking function to cover zones that are
not to be monitored. Due to its weatherproof housing
(IP 66), the camera is also suited for outdoor applications.
The camera is equipped with a digital output (SDI) for
high-resolution image signals (HD) and with an analog
output for testing purposes. During darkness, the 30
infrared LEDs illuminate up to 70 m of the surveillance
area. The setting menu can also be remote-controlled via
an RS-485 interface.
2 Safety Notes
The camera corresponds to all relevant directives of the
EU and is therefore marked with
.
G
The camera housing is weatherproof, but not ab-
solutely watertight. Therefore, do not immerge the cam-
era into water.
G
Protect the camera against extreme temperatures (ad-
missible ambient temperature range: -10 °C to +50 °C).
G
Never touch the lens with your fingers. For cleaning the
lens, only use optical lens cleaners.
G
For cleaning the housing, never use aggressive deter-
gents or chemicals.
G
No guarantee claims for the camera and no liability for
any resulting personal damage or material damage will
be accepted if the camera is used for other purposes
than originally intended, if it is not correctly installed or
if it is not repaired in an expert way.
If the camera is to be put out of operation defin-
itively, take it to a local recycling plant for a dis-
posal which is not harmful to the environment.

3 Installation

1) To find the optimum place of mounting, make a test run.
2) At the location of mounting, drill three holes for fixing
the base (3) and, if necessary, drill a hole for the con-
nection cable (the cable can also be guided through
the cable inlet at the side of the base). If necessary,
loosen the setscrews (2) of the base and the camera
support, using the hex key supplied.
3) Use a 75 Ω cable to connect the BNC jack (11) to the
SDI video input of a monitor. The maximum cable
length possible depends on the cable quality. With the
low-loss special cable KHD-1 from MONACOR, the
maximum cable length is 170 m. Repeaters (e. g.
HDEXT-206) can be inserted to support cable lengths
of several hundred meters.
4) To make the menu settings, remove the cap (5) of the
service connection; the control lever (7) is located
beneath the cap.
For testing purposes, an additional analog low-
resolution video signal is available at the jack (6).
To connect a monitor, connect the plug (8) of the
adapter cable "EXTRA VIDEO" to the jack and the
RCA plug (9) to the input of the monitor.
5) To make menu settings by remote control via RS-485,
connect the control unit to the connection cables RS-
485 + (red) and RS-485 − (white) (12).
6) Connect a regulated 12 V power supply with a perma-
nent rating of 1 A to the inline jack (10). A low-voltage
plug 5.5 / 2.1 mm (exterior / interior diameter) is re -
quired. Make absolutely sure to observe the correct
polarity (centre contact = +).
CAUTION The infrared LEDs switch on in case of
darkness. When setting up the camera, never look
directly into the lit infrared LEDs from a close range.
The infrared light may cause eye irritation. However,
the infrared radiation is far below the emission limit
and rated risk-free according to EN 62471.
7) Please observe the following for outdoor installations:
The connections (10 – 12) and the cable splitter (4) are
not weatherproof and must be protected accordingly.
8) Switch on the monitor connected and align the camera
by means of the monitor image: Loosen the setscrews
(2), using the hex key supplied, and position the cam-
era as desired. Then tighten the screws again. Posi-
tion the sunshield (1) on the camera as required.
To set the focal length, tilt the control lever (7)

inserted into the image; to change the angle of view, tilt
the control lever vertically
. Depending on the menu
AF
settings (menu item
), the image can be automati-
cally focussed after the focal length has been
changed.
4 Adjustments via the On-screen Menu
The on-screen menu is operated by means of the control
lever (7). To display the on-screen menu, press the con-
trol lever. The main menu appears:
