1. Safety rules
For your own safety
Before using the machine read the instruc-
tions thoroughly. The operating instructions
must always available for the operator.
The carpetextractor may only be operated
by persons who have been fully trained and
authorised to use it.
Warning! The carept extractor is not suita-
ble for cleaning surfaces, from which any
type of dust or substances which are flam-
mable, poisonous, caustic, irritating are
remove that represent a health hazard.
General
The usage of this cleaning machine is sub-
jected to national regulations.
After the operating instructions and the
nationales rules for safety in the work place,
we also recommend that the unwritten rules
of safe working be respected.
Proper operation
– The Extravac 400 has been designed
solely for wet cleaning water-resistant
carpets and upholstery.
– All other usage is considered improper.
The manufacturer takes no responsablility
for damages due to the improper use of
the carpet cleaner. The user takes the ent-
ire risk for damages due to improper use.
– Respecting the operating, maintenance
and repair instructions is also an impor-
tant part of the proper operation.
– The appropriate accident prevention
rules, as well as other known regulations
for health and safety in operation, must
be respected.
– Any unauthorized change of the carpet
extractor will result in refusal of the manu-
facturer to take any guarantee or respon-
sability for damage that may occur as a
result of the unauthorised changes.
– Check that the wheels will not damage
the surface of any plastic surfaces espe-
cially in gymnasiums
– Should the carpet extractor be miss-
used, the manufacturer will not be
responsible for any form of guarantee.
Product Liability
The operator of the machine is strictly
informed that it is only to be used according
to the operating instructions. Should the
machine not be operated properly, this
happens at the own risc and own liability of
the operator. In such a case any form of
guarantee is refused by the manufactuer.
Sources of Danger
– Care should be taken when driving the
machine over thresholds or sills as
damage may occur to the wheels. It is
advisable to lift the machine when trans-
porting.
– When transporting in elevators, their
safety regulations and precautions are to
be respected as well as the maximum
load capacity of the elevator.
Authorised Service Staff
The carpet extractor may only be maintai-
ned by authorised specialists who have
full training on the maintenance of the
machine.
Cleaning Agents
– Please always consult correct use
and safety precautions as detailed on
the manufacturers label. If necessary
wear appropriate clothing and safety
glasses.
– Only use low foaming an non-inflamma-
ble cleaning agents which do not inclu-
ded hazardous components.
We emphasise the danger of using inflam-
mable, poisonous, hazardous and explosi-
ve cleaning agents.
First Operation
On delivery of this machine full training will
normally be provided by representative of
the manufacturer.
Where this is not the case, the owner
is responsible for training their staff.

3. General
Following these operating instructions will
ensure that the unit runs trouble free.
Always use the cleaning and service pro-
ducts recommended for the Extravac 400.
Problems often arise and poor cleaning and
care results frequently occur because
unsuitable cleaning and service products
are used.
Unpack your Extravac 400 and compare
the various parts with the pictures on the
inside cover.
4. Application
The standard Extravac 400 model is desi-
gned for use as a carpet cleaner
Using optional accessories the Extravac
400 can also be used for:
– cleaning upholstery (with upholstery tool
/ optional accessory)
– Wet cleaning hard floors (with hard
floor tool, optional accesory)
5. Preparations for using the
machine / Operation
Before operating the Extravac 400 :
– Remove plants and furniture from the
room.
– Vacuum clean the carpets thoroughly.
– Treat stains with pre-cleaner.
Only use cleaning agents recommen-
ded by the manufacturer. The recom-
mended cleaning agents have been speci-
ally developped and tested for carpet clea-
ning.
Assembly and application:
1.
Fill clean water tank (B 1) with warm
water and cleaning agent up to the
lower rim of the filling opening. (Dilu-
tion according to the label on the cle-
aning agent)
2.
Connect the vacuuming hose to the
connector for vacuuming hose (A 3).
3.
Press the nipple at the end of the
spraying hose into the quick connec-
tor on the unit (A 7).
4.
Check position of the waste water
tank cover (C 2).
5.
Connect the connector at the end of
the hose to the carpet tool. Connect
the quick connector at the end of the
spraying hose to the nipple of the
valve.
6.
Before using the unit always make
sure that the carpets to be cleaned
are color-fast. To test color-fastness
of the carpet put a little amount of the
carpet cleaning agent onto a white
cloth and rub onto the carpet in hid-
den corner. If the carpet is not color-
fast the white cloth will stain.
7.
Spray extraction process

b) By pressing the
handle of the
valve water and
cleaning solu-
tion is sprayed
onto the car-
pet. The dirt
inside the carpet is rinsed to the
top of the carpet and immediately
vacuumed.
The spraying pressure of the
Extravac 400 can be changed
as required. Set the pressure
using the pressure control
valve (A 6). The set pressure is
indicated on the manometer
