Therapy modes BiLevel ST 22 can be operated in four therapy modes: S, T, ST, CPAP. Your doctor will set the mode required for your therapy on the unit. In the time-controlled mode T and the assisted-controlled mode ST your doctor can adjust the respiratory rate to within a range of 6 to 45 breaths per minute and the inspiration time to within a range of 20 % to 67 % of the respiratory cycle.
• Always secure the mains socket on the power supply using the cable securing clip to prevent unintentional removal of the plug. • BiLevel ST 22 must be connected to an easily accessible socket, so that in the event of a failure, the mains plug can be quickly removed.

Caution! • Do not transport the BiLevel ST 22 with the VENTIclick humidifier installed. Tilting might cause any water remaining in the VENTIclick to run into the BiLevel ST 22 and damage it. • If third-party items are used, functional failures may occur and fitness for use may be restricted.
2.2 Contraindications The BiLevel ST 22 should not be used if the patient is suffering from one of the following illnesses (or only with particular caution). In each case the decision whether to use BiLevel ST 22 for therapy lies with the doctor in charge.

3.2 Fitting the mask BiLevel ST 22 is designed for operation with nasal, oronasal and full face masks. To fit the nasal mask, proceed as follows: 1. Adjust the forehead support (if fitted) of the mask. 2. Connect the headgear to the mask and put the mask on.

The introduction of oxygen for the BiLevel ST 22 is only permitted using the VENTI-O oxy- gen valve. This valve enables up to 4 l/min of oxygen to be introduced. If there is a fault, the VENTI-O releases the oxygen into the atmosphere.

Bacteria filter If BiLevel ST 22 is to be used by several patients (e.g. in a hospital), the WM 24148 bacteria filter must be used to protect against infection. It is connected between the hose system and the BiLevel ST 22 or VENTIclick. Also re- fer to the Operating Instructions supplied with the bacte- ria filter.
. If auto switch-on is acti- vated, you can also put on the mask and turn BiLevel ST 22 on by breathing (see "4.2 Activate/ deactivate the auto switch-on" on page 20). The operating hours and the Weinmann software ver- sion appear for approx.
4.2 Activate/deactivate the auto switch-on If auto switch-on is activated, you can turn on BiLevel ST 22 using the On/Off switch or by “breathing”. You can only turn off BiLevel ST 22 using the On/Off switch Activate auto switch-on 1.
Deactivate auto switch-on Repeat steps 2.–5. as described in „ Activate auto switch-on“. If auto switch-on is switched off, you will only be able to turn BiLevel ST 22 on using the key 4.3 Setting Soft start If your doctor has enabled the Soft start function, the Soft start time can be selected in 5- minute increments up to a maximum time of 30 minutes.

Remember as well to take replacement filters and all the Operating Instructions with you. If you want to take BiLevel ST 22 with you on a flight, please make sure you are familiar with the necessary regulations before departure. An air transportation certificate can be obtained from Weinmann.
5. Hygienic preparation This product may contain disposable items. Disposable items are intended to be used only once. So use these items only once and do not reprocess them. Reprocessing dispos- able items may impair the functionality and safety of the product and lead to unforeseeable reactions as a result of ageing, embrittlement, wear, thermal load, the effects of chemical processes, etc.
Press the dial to start the drying process. The unit will now dry the hose system. The remaining drying time is displayed. After 30 min- utes BiLevel ST 22 automatically switches off. You can interrupt the process at any time by pressing the Menu key or the On/Off switch for 2 seconds.

• Risk of electric shock! Before cleaning, disconnect the power supply cable from the power input of the BiLevel ST 22 and the mains plug from the socket. • Make sure no liquid gets into the unit. Never immerse the unit in disinfectant or any other liquid.
After disinfecting rinse all the parts thoroughly with distilled water. Let the parts dry out completely. Let the hose system drip-dry. Dry the hose system and BiLevel ST 22 as described in 5.2. • The corrugated tube WM 24130 (transparent) can be cleaned in warm water up to 70 °C.
5.4 Multiple patient use If the unit is operated with bacteria filters: • Change the bacteria filter. • Sterilize the bacteria filter and change the particle filters located inside. The standard display appears again after acknowledging the acoustic alarm. If the fault has not been rectified, the status line continues to be displayed and the yellow sta- tus display flashes (or is illuminated) until the fault is cle- ared. If the fault has not been rectified within 120 seconds of acknowledgement, the acoustic alarm (buzzer) sounds again.

8. Maintenance 8.1 Intervals We recommend that repairs are only carried out by Weinmann or by authorized dealers. Both filters must be regularly checked for contamination. • Clean the coarse dust filter once a week and replace it at least every 6 months.

Claims under warranty will be forfeited if filters from outside manufacturers are used; these may also restrict function and biocompatibility. 1.
