Biochip
A biochip is a collection of miniaturised test sites (microarrays) arranged on a solid substrate that per-
mits many tests to be performed at the same time in order to achieve higher output and speed.
HTA™Slide
HTA™Slide is a prestructured biochip with 12 wells (HTA™Slide 12), identifi ed by one barcode.
Microarray
An arrayed series of microscopic spots of spotted probes.
Test
Reaction of sample with spotted probes in one or several wells
Well
Cavity on a prestructured biochip for containing the microarray and sample

10. PREFACE

The CheckScanner™ 2.0 is a fl uorescence biochip reader processing up to four HTA™Slides.
The system is controlled by a PC using CheckReport™Software. Many features of the scanner
are designed to maximize ease of use and thereby minimize the chance of errors. The specifi ed
performance of the instrument can only be warranted if the instrument is serviced by qualifi ed,
trained personnel using the prescribed, original parts.

11. SCOPE AND AUDIENCE

These Instructions for Use are intended for operators of the CheckScanner™ 2.0 describing the
instrument in detail.
It contains no information specifi c to technical service procedures which must be performed by the
manufacturer or its representatives.
