    The iSTS B1 is a 2 pole, single phase 1RU 19-inch rack mount iSTS with a maintenance bypass feature. Both the active conductor and the neutral are switched. Thyristors are used to undertake the switching process. These are many times faster and more reliable than their electromechanical equivalents.

    The standard iSTS B1 will contribute a maximum of 5mA to earth leakage (transiently & during switching between sources), this will itself not cause any tripping of the RCDs. The iSTS B1 has backfeed contactors to ensure that there is no or negligible earth leakage currents if a supply source is removed.
