Battery charging

The FD 100 is fitted with an internal rechargeable battery (Li-Ion
battery), which cannot be removed or replaced by the user. The
remote control handset's battery is recharged automatically as
soon as it is placed in the docking station. The charge process is
indicated by the battery symbol on the screen: when the battery is
on charge, the symbol turns red. When the battery is fully charged,
the symbol turns green.
When the handset is in use, the battery symbol indicates how
much battery capacity remains available; this is displayed as one
of several levels, as shown below.
The battery in the remote control handset loses charge even when
   
it is not in use. If you leave the handset out of the docking station
for a long period, you may need to replace it in the station before
using it again.
If you place the FD 100 in the charging well, but the battery symbol
 
 
does not glow red or green, then it is not making contact with the
charge contacts. If this should happen, re-position the FD 100
correctly in the docking station. If even that fails, check and clean
the charge contacts.
The FD 100 should be charged for at least four hours before
   
you first use it, as this ensures that the useful life of the
integral rechargeable battery will be as long as possible.
You can also ensure that the battery lasts a long time by always
discharging it to a low point (less than 20%), and then giving it a
full charge. The battery's useful life will be shortened considerably
if you repeatedly discharge it to a small extent, and then give it a
brief charge.
If you eventually notice that the battery only retains a little of its
original capacity, and the period you can use the FD 100 is greatly
reduced, then it is time to contact your  dealer and ask him to
fit a replacement battery.
