8. Many parts are sensitive to static electricity. Keep all electronic components inside their shipping
container or envelope until you are ready to install them. If you remove, then re-install an electronic
component, temporarily place that component on an ESD mat.
9. If you encounter difficulties during the installation, contact your service provider, your IBM reseller,
or your next level of support.
10. If you are installing new hardware in a logical partition, you need to understand and plan for the
implications of partitioning your system. For information, see Logical Partitioning.

Control panel LEDs

Use this information as a guide to the control panel LEDs and buttons.
Use Figure 25 with the control panel LED descriptions to understand the system status that is indicated
by the control panel.
Control panel LEDs and descriptions:
Figure 25. Control panel LEDs
v A: Power-on button
– A constant green light indicates full system power to the unit.
– A flashing green light indicates standby power to the unit.
– After the power-on button is pressed, the system takes approximately 30-seconds for the power LED
to change from flashing to solid. During the transition period, the LED might flash faster.
v B: Enclosure identify light
– A constant blue light indicates the identify state.
– No light indicates that the system is operating normally.
v C: Check log light
– No light indicates that the system is operating normally.
– An amber light indicates that the system requires attention. Check the error log.
v D: Enclosure fault light
– No light indicates that the system is operating normally.
– An amber light indicates a fault in the system unit.
v E: Pinhole reset button
