Chapter 2: Overview

2. Overview

The HD View system from Black Box is an out-of-band solution
for the last step in a digital signage network. HD View combines
video, audio, and serial functions for distributing real-time
multimedia content from player to multiple screens up to 1000
feet (300 m) away.
The HD View system distributes Video, Audio and Serial control
data from a single content source to up to 128 remote monitors
over CAT5/5e/6/7 UTP media.
With the HD View, an administrator can remotely turn the
distributed screens on and off, and monitor them either
separately or as a unified group. The system also supports
Display Data Channel (DDC) signaling, enabling optimal player-
screen configuration for better visual experience.
Depending on the cable length, the HD View broadcasts the
video up to resolutions of 1080p HDTV or 1920x1440 @ 60Hz.
NOTE: As the resolution gets larger, the supported cable distance
is reduced.
HD View comes with RS-232 point-to-point, real-time serial
communication (including TX, RX, CTS, and RTS) for the
extension of serial devices and player to screen command and
information transfer. All handshake lines are supported for
maximum compatibility with any serial device.
