For maximum moisture retention, your cooker body and cover are sealed by a rubber
gasket. During the heating process, the pressure inside the cooker increases gradually
as water is brought to its boiling point. When this occurs, the pressure-limiting valve
pushes upward on the exhaust pipe. Steam then begins to escape from the exhaust
pipe, allowing the temperature and pressure inside the cooker to remain at a constant
level. If for some reason the exhaust pipe becomes blocked by food, one of the safety
devices (manual release valve or safety valve) will release the pressure automatically. If
the cooker cover is not fully closed and in the locked position, the pressure in the cooker
cannot reach more than 5 kPa. This cooker has been equipped with a pressure indicating
valve which will keep the cooker cover from being removed from the cooker body until the
pressure inside the cooker reduces to 3 kPa or less.

HOW TO USE THE PRESSURE COOKER

• When using Pressure Cooker for the first time,
apply a thin coat of cooking oil to the area of
the rim of the cooker body that comes into
contact with the lid gasket. This allows for
easy opening and closing.
• The amount of solid foods and water placed in
the Pressure Cooker body should not exceed
MAX marking (See Figure 1). Never use less
than MIN marking of water or liquid.
• Place solid foods into Pressure Cooker first.
• Add water or other specified liquid into cooker.
• While holding cooker cover upside down by
upper handle, remove blockage guard by
turning the guard one quarter (1/4) turn in a
counter clockwise direction. Hold cooker cover
up to light and look though exhaust pipe to
be certain it is clear and free of obstructions;
clean if necessary. Reinstall blockage guard.
• Place cooker cover on top of cooker body by
aligning arrow on cooker cover with arrow on
the top ol the lower handle. Rotate cooker
cover in a clockwise direction while keeping
lower handle stationary (See Figure 2). When
cooker cover is properly closed, the handles
will lock together (See Figure 3). Do not force
cooker cover to rotate; it should slide easily
into the properly locked position.
