    The instructions contained in this manual have been prepared to aid in learning the proper procedures for installing, operating and servicing Giles Model OVH-10-C Ventless Recirculating Counter-Top Hood Throughout the manual, safety precautions are identified by a hazard alert symbol and key words such as DANGER, WARNING or CAUTION.

Adhering to the following important safety information will help to prevent personal injury and/or damage to the equipment.
  • Page 9 Safety Model: GVH-C & GVH-F Specific Safety Precautions: • Exercise care when removing wooden crate framework and the unit from shipping pallet. • DO NOT operate the appliance, unless its components and their intended functions are fully understood (see Section 3). Once you have read and fully understand Section 3, closely follow the instructions presented in this Operations Manual in order to prevent equipment damage, or malfunction.

The GVH-C model is designed specifically for use in counter-top applications and is listed for the removal of grease-laden cooking vapors produced by a variety of small electrically heated cooking appliances.

Before installing this equipment, please thoroughly read the contents of this manual and any accompanying installation instructions. Work should be performed by a qualified professional electrical contactor. Installation must comply with all local code requirements.     Model: GVH-C & GVH-F Operation & Filter Maintenance Operation & Filter Maintenance This section describes Hood operation, care and cleaning of Filters, and other general maintenance information. 4.01 Hood Operation Before attempting to start the Hood, confirm that all Filters are in place and properly seated. The Filter Access Door must be closed and securely latched.

    Grease Baffle Filter should be cleaned daily. Rotate the thumb-turn locks to the opening position and open the Filter. Clean in sink with a mild, bio-degradable, degreasing cleaner (Giles recommends Simple Green®). Dry filter thoroughly. Close filter halves and secure the locking thumb-turns. Reinstall in the unit. Generally, the Baffle Filter may be washed in a dishwasher.

    Typical replacement cycle is every 30 to 40 days, depending on usage. Use Giles replacement Item No. 30248. Record replacement date on the new filter. IMPORTANT: Failure to use Giles OEM parts and OEM replacement filters may void the factory warranty.
