Note:
Determine the left and right sides of the machine from the normal operating position.

Recommended Maintenance Schedule(s)

Before storage
Important:
Refer to your engine owner's manual for additional maintenance procedures.
CAUTION
If you leave the key in the switch, someone could accidently start the engine and seriously
injure you or other bystanders.
Remove the key from the switch and disconnect the spark-plug wire(s) from the spark plug(s)
before you do any maintenance. Set the wire aside so that it does not accidentally contact
the spark plug.
Maintenance Procedure
• Change the engine oil.
• Check the mower belt tension.
• Check the mower belt tension.
• Check the safety system.
• Grease the caster wheels and caster pivot.
• Check the engine-oil level.
• Clean the air-intake screen.
• Clean the air intake screen from grass and debris before each use.
• Check the brakes.
• Inspect the blades.
• Clean the mower deck.
• Clean the foam air-cleaner element (more often in dirty or dusty conditions).
• Grease the mower-belt idler.
• Check the paper air-cleaner element (more often in dirty or dusty conditions).
• Check the tire pressure.
• Check the belts.
• Check the mower belt tension.
• Change the engine oil (more often in dirty or dusty conditions).
• Check the spark plugs.
• Check and clean the engine-cooling fins and shrouds.
• Replace the paper air-cleaner element (more often in dirty or dusty conditions).
• Change the oil filter (more often in dirty or dusty conditions).
• Replace the fuel filter.
• Replace the fuel-vent filter.
• Grease the transmission couplers (more often in dirty or dusty conditions).
• Grease the wheel bearings (more often in dirty or dusty conditions).
• Paint chipped surfaces.
• Perform all maintenance procedures listed above before storage.
