Testing Procedures

Auto Latch Switches

Both unlock and lock door latch switches may be
replaced.
1. Disconnect power.
2. Disconnect lead wires from door latch switch
(unlock).
3. Set ohmmeter to the RX1 scale.
4. Attach meter leads to door latch switch (unlock).
5. Depress actuator arm. The meter should read
continuity.
6. Reverse procedure to reconnect.
7. Use the same procedure to test the door latch switch
(lock).

Convection Fan

1. Turn off power to oven.
2. Remove lower rear access panel from back of oven.
3. Disconnect wires from motor terminal connectors.
4. Attach ohmmeter leads to terminal tabs on motor.
5. A resistance reading of 15-30 ohms should be
indicated but may vary with each motor tested. This
test is to check the motor winding for an open or
shorted winding. If zero or infinite ohms is indicated,
the motor winding is defective and the motor must
be replaced.

Oven High Limit Switch

Located on the rear of unit and connecting to the L2 side
of electric supply, this switch is normally closed but will
open if external temperature exceeds 275°F.
DISCONNECT POWER BEFORE SERVICING, UNLESS TESTING REQUIRES IT.
1. Turn off power to oven.
2. Remove lower rear access panel from back of oven.
3. Disconnect wires from switch terminal connections.
4. Attach ohmmeter leads to switch terminals. At
ambient room temperature (70°F.) continuity should
be indicated.

Glass Ceramic Elements/Halogen Elements

A hi-limit thermostat is mounted in each glass ceramic
heating element as a safety device to limit excessively
high temperatures. The hi-limit contacts open at
approximately 1200° F. The hi-limit switch contacts can
be checked for continuity by following the procedures
below:
1. Turn off power to the range.
2. Remove swcrews securing main top to the frame.
3. Raise and secure main top.
4. Disconnect the hi-limit switch wire leads.
5. Set an ohmmeter to the R x 1 scale and attach the
meter leads to the switch terminals. Zero OHMS or
continuity should be indicated. If no continuity is
indicated, the element must be replaced.

Indicator Light Testing

If the oven surface units opeate normally but the
indicator lights do not glow, check for voltage at the
indicator light terminals. If voltage is present at the
indicator terminals and the indicator does not glow,
replace the indicator light. If no voltage is present at the
teminals, check for loose connections or broken wiring.

Oven Door Switch

Clean Safety/Light Switch (Power Off)
1. The switch has NO (normally open), NC (normally
closed), and C (common) contacts.
2. Check the switch with an ohmmeter between C and
NC with the plunger out. Continuity should exist.
With the plunger in, no continuity.
3. Check the switch with an ohmmeter between C and
NO with the plunger in. Continuity should exist. With
the plunger out, no continuity.

NOTE: When facing the range, the switch is on the left.
