Safety Switching Device
Operating Instructions
Read and understand these instructions before installing, operating, or
maintaining the equipment.
!
DANGER
Hazardous voltage.
Will cause death or serious injury.
Disconnect power before working on equipment.
The switchgear must be installed in switchgear cubicles complying with degree of
protection IP32, IP43 or IP54, depending on the prevailing environmental
conditions.
IMPORTANT NOTICE
The products described herein are designed to be components of a customized
machinery safety-oriented control system. A complete safety-oriented system may
include safety sensors, evaluators, actuators and signaling components. It is the
responsibility of each company to conduct its own evaluation of the effectiveness of the
safety system by trained individuals. Siemens AG, its subsidiaries and affiliates
(collectively "Siemens") are not in a position to evaluate all of the characteristics of a
given system or product or machine not designed by Siemens.
Siemens accepts no liability for any recommendation that may be implied or stated
herein. The warranty contained in the contract of sale by Siemens is the sole warranty
of Siemens. Any statements contained herein do not create new warranties or modify
existing ones.
Application
The 3SE6806-2CD00 safety switching device can be used in safety circuits according
to VDE 0113 Part 1 (11.98) and EN 60 204-1 (11.98), for example with moving screens
and protective doors.
The device is suitable for evaluating the 3SE6 magnet monitoring device. However, it
can only be used with devices equipped with 1 NO and 1 NC.
The safety switching device complies with DIN EN ISO 13849-1 up to Category 3,
depending on the external wiring.
Functions and connections
The 3SE6806-2CD00 safety switching device operates as an NO circuit with two floating
release circuits (safety circuits) and as an NC circuit using a floating signaling circuit.
The number of release circuits can be supplemented by connecting one or more
3TK2830 expansion modules.
Three green LEDs indicate the status:
• LED POWER ON: Rated control supply voltage U
• LED CHA 1 ON: all NO contacts of the connected sensors are open.
• LED CHA 2 ON: all NC contacts of the connected sensors are closed.
Up to 6 protective devices can be connected to the safety switching device.
The sensor inputs (terminals S**) are wired as shown in figures III to VII.
Cross-circuits between the sensor circuits, faults to earth and wire breaks are detected
by the safety switching device.
The "manual start" mode can be activated by wiring the terminals X1 and X2 as shown
in fig. IV and "automatic start" can be activated using terminals X1 and X3 (Fig. V).
The device has six current-sourcing semiconductor outputs (Y1 to Y6) which report the
status of the connected safety devices.

Note
• A "manual start" using the ON switch is achieved via the downward pulse edge.
• If the feedback circuit is not required for an "automatic start", X1 can be bridged with X3.
• When using the device in "automatic start" mode, an automatic restart by the higher-level
control after an emergency shutdown should be prevented according to EN 60 204-1
sections 9.2.5.4.2 and 10.8.3.
