4-Port Gigabit Ethernet Layer 3 Switching Module (GBIC) Quick Start Guide
Before you connect the system to the Gigabit Ethernet network, first

Transceiver insert the transceiver into the GBIC port on the module:
1 Orient the transceiver so that the SC connector is toward you (Figure 6).

2 Compress the side tabs and gently slide the transceiver into the GBIC port
until it clicks into place.
CAUTION: The transceiver is keyed so that you can only install it one way.
If you insert the transceiver and it does not slide in all the way, do not try
to force it into place. Remove the transceiver, turn it over, and then
reinsert it into the module.
