Wait until the muffler is cool before
C AU TION
performing any maintenance.
SPARK ARRESTOR SCREEN should be inspected
every 100 hours of engine usage.
1. Loosen the two nuts on the clamp and slide clamp
off,over the tailpipe extension.
2. Remove tailpipe extension. The extension may have be-
come tight to the muffler as a result of the crimping ac-
tion of the clamp. Pliers may be required for extra grip
when twisting the extension off.
3. Slide the Spark Arrestor Screen out of the muffler and
shake the screen to remove the built up soot and car-
bon. The amount of carbon collected will vary with fuel
used, air quality,engine age and condition. (A soft metel
brush may be required to fully clean the screen.)
4. Cartefully inspect the screen for any tears, rips, or any
other damage which will prevent the screen from oper-
ating properly. Replace screen if damaged.
5. Re-install the cleaned and inspected screen.
Installation
1.Insert the screen into the tailpipe on the muffler until the
retaining ring is against the tip of the tailpipe.
2. Install the extension over the tailpipe, The extension
should be "snug" fit.
3. Slide the clamp over the extension until it circles the ex-
panded section of the extension wher the tailpipe and
extension overlap. Tighten the two clamp bolts evenly.
