CAN Module OVERVIEW Dear customer, Thank you for choosing our product. In the following we will show you what has to be considered during commissioning and use. Should you encounter any unexpected problems, please feel free to contact us. ANSCHLUSSPLAN The CAN board is compatible with Raspberry Pis (and other ARM single board computers) on a voltage level of 3.3V, as well as with Arduinos on a voltage level of 5V.

CAN Module Connection Description Interrupt Serial Clock MOSI MISO Chip Select Ground VCC1 3.3V Additional connection of CANH and CANL signals Activation / deactivation of the terminal resistor CANH CAN High CANL CAN Low For best operation between CAN High and CAN Low, a terminal resistor is required.
With these examples the basic functionality of the system can be explored excellently. With a second Arduino and a second Can module, for example, a communication between both devices can be established, where one module takes over the transmitter and the other module the receiver. In this case, connect both CAN-High interfaces and both CAN-Low interfaces of the two modules with each other.
CAN Module USAGE WITH A RASPBERRY PI CAN Module Raspberry Pi 22 (GPIO 25) 23 (SCK) 19 (MOSI) 21 (MISO) 24 (CE0) 6 (GND) VCC1 2 (5V) 1 (3.3V) Attention! Please make sure to connect the VCC1 and VCC connectors correctly. The module works with a voltage level of 5V, but in contrast to an Arduino, the inputs and outputs of the Raspberry Pis are only designed for a voltage of 3.3V.
