Troubleshooting

Use the following table to help track down the causes of problems and to
determine the best solution to deal with them.
Problem
Automatic sheet feeder
does not function.
Paper does not feed
properly.
More than one sheet being
fed.
Paper is being creased.
Paper does not eject
properly.
Possible Cause
Paper is not stacked
properly.
Platen is not operating
properly.
Printer is not in the ASF
mode.
Paper Out detection is not
performed.
Out of paper
Paper jam
Release lever is in the
forward (fanfold) position.
Paper Out detection is not
performed.
Insufficient paper fanning
Wrong paper type
Defective paper
Too much lateral movement
of paper
Stacker is too full.

Recommended Action
Load the paper correctly
Confirm that the feeder is
properly installed and that all
gears are meshing correctly.
Use the EDS Mode to make
the necessary settings.
