BATTERY SERVICE

Model 911179
CAUTION: AVOID INJURY.
Battery posts, terminals and
related accessories contain lead
and lead compounds, chemicals
known to the State of California to
cause cancer and reproductive
harm. Wash hands after handling.
Unit comes equipped with a maintenance-
free battery that requires no regular
maintenance besides charging.
Charge Battery
IMPORTANT: Engine does not charge the
battery. Battery MUST be charged
occasionally for starter to operate.
NOTICE: DO NOT attempt to jump-start
mower.
NOTICE: DO NOT start engine while the
charger is connected to the battery.
1. Stop engine, wait for all moving parts to
stop and for hot parts to cool.
See Figure 33.
2. Connect battery charger to wire harness.
3. Plug charger into a 120V grounded outlet.
4. Charge battery for 16 – 24 hours.
NOTICE: DO NOT overcharge battery.
Disconnect battery charger after 24 hours.

Remove Battery
1. Stop engine, remove key, wait for all
moving parts to stop and for hot parts to
cool.
2. Disconnect spark plug wire.
3. Remove grass bag, if applicable.
See Figure 34.
4. Disconnect the red (positive +) connector
from the positive battery terminal.
5. Disconnect the black (negative –)
connector from the negative battery
terminal.
