Preventing the engine from
standing by
In certain situations, such as negotiat-
ing a crossroads for instance, it is pos-
sible (with the system activated) to keep
the engine running so as to be ready to
move off quickly.
for vehicles equipped with auto-
matic gearboxes:
Keep the vehicle stationary without
pressing too hard on the brake pedal.
for vehicles equipped with manual
gearboxes:
Keep the clutch pedal pressed right
down.
To fill up with fuel, the engine must
be stopped (and not put in standby):
you MUST stop the engine ➥ 2.4

conditions for coming out of
engine standby
for vehicles equipped with auto-
matic gearboxes:
– when the driver's door is opened;
or
– when the driver's seat belt is unfas-
tened;
or
– the brake pedal is released, position
D or l (depending on the vehicle)
engaged;
or
– Brake pedal is released, position n
engaged and parking brake re-
leased;
or
– Parking brake is applied again, po-
sition P engaged, or position n en-
gaged with parking brake applied;
or
– position r is engaged;
or
– the accelerator pedal is depressed;
or
– in manual mode (m), the gear change
paddles are activated ➥ 2.118.
"AUTOHOLD" function activated
➥ 2.21, the brake pedal may be
released and the engine standby
maintained.
To exit engine standby, with the
brake pedal released, press the ac-
celerator pedal.
