Yes- Original 10-pin connector was damaged or defective. END
No- Reinstall original 10-pin connector. Go To STEP 3.

Substitute a known good handset. (must be programmed with an active number). Place
test call.
Can landline hear you?
Yes- Original handset defective.
A. Call the service provider to activate new ESN.
B. Program phone in portable mode (coil cord unplugged). Enter customer's security and
unlock code.
C. Transfer ALL of customer's phonebook from old phone to new phone.
D. Perform "Initial Installation" checks to verify that phone functions properly in car.
END.
No- Reconnect original handset. Go To STEP 4.

Substitute a known good coil cord. Place test call.
Can landline hear you?
Yes- Original coil cord was defective. END No-
Reinstall original coil cord. Go To STEP 5.

Look at PSE for bent or damaged pins, if pins look good substitute a known good PSE.
Place test call.
Can landline hear you? Yes-Original PSE
defective. END No-Reinstall original PSE.
Go To STEP 6
6.
Substitute a known good Y cable. Place test call.
Can landline hear you?
Yes- Original Y cable defective. END
No- Reinstall original Y cable. Go To STEP 7
7.
Substitute a known good microphone. Place test call.
Can landline hear you?
Yes- Original microphone defective. END
No- Reinstall original microphone. Go To STEP 8
8.
If after completing all of the above previous there is still a problem contact Mercedes-
Benz Regional Technical Support Specialist.
