No - Go to STEP 3.

Install new coil cord.
Does phone power up in Mobile Mode (coil cord plugged in)?
Yes - With the phone powered up, shake the coil cord.
Does the phone stay "ON"?
Yes - Coil cord defective. END
No - Reinstall original coil cord. There is a connection problem between the coil cord and
the handset. Carefully clean the connectors and retry. END
No - Reinstall original coil cord. Go to STEP 4.

Gain access to the PSE and RF compensator.
5.
Are the connectors of the Y harness firmly connected with the RF compensator
and PSE?
Yes - Go to STEP 7.
No - Reseat Y harness connectors.
Does the phone power up?
Yes - Y harness improperly connected. END No
- Go to STEP 6.

Disconnect the Y harness from the PSE.
7.
Turn the ignition on.
8.
Check for battery voltage at pins 4 and 16 of the 25-pin connector for the PSE.
Is battery voltage available at each location?
Yes - Go to STEP 9.
No - Remove the Y harness.
With the ignition on, is voltage present at pins 4 and 16 of the 25-pin connector of the
vehicle pre-wire?
Yes - Replace the Y harness. END
No - Repair vehicle wiring/fuse between the battery and the 25-pin connector of the
vehicle pre-wire Use appropriate Electrical Wiring Diagram manual to locate best test
locations. END
9.
Check pins 3 and 17 of the PSE connector of the Y harness for proper
continuity to ground.
Continuity to ground confirmed?
Yes - Go to STEP 10.
No - Remove the Y harness. Check for continuity between pins 3 and 17 of the 25-pin connector
of the vehicle pre-wire and ground.
