Continuity to ground confirmed?
Yes - Replace the Y harness. END
No - Repair faulty ground connection between vehicle pre-wire and ground. Use
appropriate Electrical Wiring Diagram manual to locate best test locations. END

Reconnect Y harness connector to the PSE.
Does the phone power up in the Mobile Mode (coil cord plugged in)?
Yes - Clean and tighten connections that have been moved. END No - Go
to STEP 11.

Disconnect the RF compensator. (Leave the PSE connected).
Does the phone power up in the mobile mode?
Yes - Original RF compensator defective. END
No - Reconnect the RF compensator. Go to STEP 12.
12.
Install a known good PSE.
Does the phone power up?
Yes - Original PSE defective. END
No - Reinstall original PSE. Go to STEP 13.
13.
Substitute a known good coil cord.
Does the phone power up?
Yes - Coil cord defective. END No
- Go to STEP 14.
14.
Substitute a known good Y harness.
Does the phone power up?
Yes - Defective Y harness. END
No - Reinstall original Y harness. Go to STEP 15.
15.
Install a known good portable phone. (No need to program)
Does the phone power up?
Yes - Original portable phone faulty.
A. Call service provider to activate new ESN.
B. Program phone in Portable Mode (coil cord unplugged).
C. Transfer numbers stored in memory. (Enter them one at a time.)
D. Perform "Initial Installation" checks. END
No - Reinstall original portable phone. Not a cellular phone problem. Inspect vehicle wiring.
