Valve Clearance - Honda EV6010 Service Information

VALVE CLEARANCE
Valve clearance inspection and adjustment must be performed
when the engine is cold.
1) Disconnect the fuel pipe from the fuel pump and remove the
pump.
2) Remove the reserve tank and the tank support.
3) Remove the sound proof cover, then remove the cylinder
head cover.
41 Remove the timing belt cover. Crank the engine and align
the "'T"- mark on the'flywheel with the "A" .mark on -the
cylinder block.
5) Check the intake .and exhaust valve clearances for the
cylinder that is at top dead center of its compression stroke
by inserting a feeler.gauge between the-valve stem and the
adjusting screw on the rocker arm.
6) Crank the engine 360° and check the valve clearances for
the other cylinder.
Standard valve
clearance
IN: 0.10-0.14 mm
(0.004-0.006 in)
EX: 0.18-0.22 mm
(0.007-0.009 in)
7) If adjustment is necessary, proceed as follows:
a.With the cylinder at top dead center of it's compression
stroke, loosen the adjusting screw lock nut, and turn the
adjusting screw to obtain the specified intake and ex-
haust valve clearance.
b.Retighten the lock nut while holding the adjusting screw.
c.Recheck the valve clearances after tightening the lock
nut.
