    Drive handling IMPORTANT: Drives are fragile components that must be handled with care. To prevent damage to the computer, damage to a drive, or loss of information, observe these precautions: Before removing or inserting a hard drive, shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.

Work around the edges to the bottom of the top cover (2), and then lift the bottom of the keyboard/top cover until it separates from the bottom cover (3).     Display assembly NOTE: The display assembly is spared at the subcomponent level only. For more display assembly spare part information, see the individual removal subsections. Before removing the display assembly, follow these steps: Prepare the computer for disassembly (Preparation for disassembly on page 22).
  • Page 46 Separate the display from the computer by pulling the display up and away from the chassis (3). If it is necessary to replace the display bezel or any of the display assembly subcomponents: Flex the inside edges of the top edge (1), the left and right sides (2), and the bottom edge (3) of the display bezel until the bezel comes loose from the display back cover.
  • Page 47 If it is necessary to remove the hinge cover, rotate the cover downward (1), and then remove it from the display enclosure (2). Hinge covers are available as spare part number L44468-001 for royal blue models, L44469-001 for diamond white models, and L44470-001 for rose pink models. If it is necessary to replace the camera/microphone module: Disconnect the cable (1) from the camera/microphone module.

  • Page 49 Lift the top edge of the display panel (2) and swing it up and forward until it rests upside down in front of the display back cover. IMPORTANT: Before turning the display panel upside down, make sure the work surface is clear of tools, screws, and any other foreign objects.
  • Page 50 Remove the display panel (3). The raw display panel is available as spare part number L44440-001. If it is necessary to replace the display hinges: Remove the four Phillips M2.5 × 3.0 screws (1) that secure each display hinge to the display back cover.
  • Page 51 Disconnect the display panel cable (1) from the camera/microphone module. Release the display panel cable from the retention clips (2) and routing channel built into the left and top sides of the display back cover. Remove the display panel cable (3).
