Remedy
High oil temperature.
Insufficient air cooling.
Check air inlet and outlet
for deformation or ob-
struction.
Insufficient oil supply.
Defective oil temperature,
control valve, oil cooler
restriction.
Clogged oil lines or
screens.
Improper engine operation.
Defective temperature
gauge.
Fill oil sump to proper
level.
Clean or replace valve or
clean oil cooler.
Remove and clean oil
screens.
Check entire engine.
Replace gauge.
Excessive oil con-
sumption.
Failing or failed bearings.
Check sump for metal par-
ticles and, if found,
overhaul of engine is
indicated.
Worn or broken piston
rings.
External oil leakage.
Low grade of oil.
Install new rings.
Check engine carefully
for leaking gaskets, and
O-ring.
Replace with oil conform-
ing to specifications.
Poor Engine Idle Cutoff.
Engine getting fuel.
Check mixture control for
being in full "IDLE
CUTOFF" position. Check
primer fuel pump "OFF."
Check for leaking primer
solenoid valve. Check for
leaking fuel manifold
valve. Replace defective
components.
