Notes
• A serial number must be a string of 4 upper-case letters, a 6–digit number, then 2 upper-case letters.
No exceptions are allowed.
• There is no echo back from the HD-V9000.
If you wish to display the input on the PC (terminal), use the local echo-back function of the terminal software.
No line break code is defined. Terminal indications may be checked more easily by defining CR+LF for the line break
code on the reception end.

8.3 UPDATING OF THE FIRMWARE

Functional description
The firmware updating functions of the HD-V9000 player are as follows:
(1) Startup updating function (SD card/USB memory)
This function updates the firmware in the internal flash memory with that stored in an SD card or USB memory when
starting up the player.
Overview
• When updating started:
If the firmware is stored in an SD card or USB memory, UPDATE mode is automatically activated during start up.
• In UPDATE mode:
No video playback is made.
No screen display is made.
The UPDATE indication is displayed on the LCD. Progress indication in % is not made.
The LCD backlight operates in the same manner as in Normal mode (lights with a key press and goes dark in 3
seconds).
No LED lights.
If the Power key is pressed, updating is interrupted and power is turned off.
• When updating completed successfully (SUCCESS):
The second line of the LCD shows "SUCCESS." (See "LCD indication format" below.)
After completion, updating becomes valid after automatically restart.
• If updating failed (FAILURE):
The second line of the LCD shows "FAILURE." (See "LCD indication format" below.)

When you press the Power key, the power is turned off.
Restriction
• Firmware updating is not achieved if the SD card or USB memory is write-protected.

-> Current serial number before change ("--" is displayed if no serial number has been written.)
-> First input of the product serial number
-> Second input of the product serial number (The same number must be entered twice for
confirmation.)
-> The serial number after change will not become valid without cycling the AC power.
-> When the AC power is cycled, the new serial number is reflected.
