Flicker Reduction

Flicker Reduction
Use the Flicker reduction option in the setup menu to reduce fl icker and banding when shooting
under fl uorescent or mercury-vapor lighting during live view or movie recording.
B SETUP MENU > Flicker reduction

Select Flicker reduction.
Press G to display the menus,
then highlight Flicker reduction in
the setup menu and press 2.

Select the desired option.
Highlight an option and press J.
Manually match fl icker reduction
to the frequency of the local AC
power supply, or choose Auto to
allow the camera to automatically
choose the correct frequency.
Flicker Reduction
If Auto fails to produce the desired results and you are unsure as to the frequency of the local power
supply, test both the 50 and 60 Hz options and choose the one that produces the best results. Flicker
reduction may not produce the desired results if the subject is very bright, in which case you should
try slowing shutter speed by using an ND fi lter or choosing a smaller aperture (larger f-number). To
prevent fl icker, select mode h and choose a shutter speed adapted to the frequency of the local
power supply: ⁄ s, ⁄ s, or ⁄ s for 60 Hz, ⁄ s, ⁄ s, or ⁄ s for 50 Hz.
