Image Area
Using an FX lens with movie live view gives you a choice of one (or in the case of the D4, two) crops
in addition to the standard FX-based format.
FX-based movie format
The 1920 × 1080 Crop (D4 Only)
The 1920 × 1080 Crop (D4 Only)
C SHOOTING MENU > Movie settings > Frame size/frame rate
The "1920 × 1080 crop" options in the Frame size/frame rate menu off er improved resolution and
sharpness and increase the eff ective lens focal length by about 2.7×, narrowing angle of view by
the same amount. Note, however, that "noise" in the form of randomly-spaced bright pixels, fog, and
lines may increase at high ISO sensitivities.

Select Movie settings.
Press G to display the menus,
then highlight Movie settings in
the shooting menu and press 2.

Select Frame rate/frame size.
Highlight Frame rate/frame size
and press 2.

Select a "1920 × 1080 crop" option.
Highlight a "1920 × 1080 crop" op-
tion and press J.
