White Balance

White Balance
Auto white balance is recommended with most light sources. If the desired results can not be
achieved with auto white balance, choose another option as described below. Select an option
according to the light source, or choose a specifi c color temperature or measure a value for preset
manual white balance.

In movie live view, white balance can
be selected by keeping the U button
pressed and rotating the main com-
mand dial until the desired setting is
displayed in the monitor or in the con-
trol panel (D800/D800E) or rear control
panel (D4).

Follow the steps below to set white balance to a selected color temperature.
Set white balance to K (Choose color temp).

Keeping the U button pressed,
rotate the main command dial until
K is displayed in the control panel
(D800/D800E) or rear control panel
(D4).

Choose a color temperature.
Keeping the U button pressed,
rotate the sub-command dial to
select the color temperature (Am-
ber–Blue only; to choose a value
for Green–Magenta, use the White
balance > Choose color temp. op-
tion in the shooting menu).
Alternatively, color temperature
can be entered directly in incre-
ments of 10 K by keeping the U
button pressed and using the multi
selector. Press 4 or 2 to highlight
a digit and press 1 or 3 to change.
