    2U of rack space depending on the model, and the compute server quantity can change depending on the needs of the organization. Dell EMC Unity storage can require fewer or more disk enclosures depending on the storage capacity and SSD drive type.
  • Page 12: Cabling

    100 GbE requires QSFP28 cabling and 25 GbE requires SFP28 cabling. We recommend Dell EMC Networking passive copper direct attach cables. These cables are available in various lengths based on the rack layout. Dell EMC Networking active optical cables are also available for longer distances and dense rack configurations.

    Ensure that you review the steps with your site networking team before performing them. Note: This Ready Stack solution supports other switch models in the Dell EMC Networking portfolio, such as the S4148T-ON and the S5232-ON switches. However, the S5232F-ON and S3048-ON switches that this sample configuration uses do not require additional breakout cabling for lower-link speed devices and may help reduce cost and cabling complexity.

A single switch is used because this connectivity is not considered critical for workload operations. To begin configuring the switch, use a laptop with a serial connection and terminal emulator software such as PuTTY.
