3.2 Measurement Methods

There are several ways of connecting, and measuring the value of, resistive
components. Here follow a few:
The four-wire resistance measurement method is the most straight forward and
accurate method.
The five-wire method also has its place in some applications.
A three-wire version of the five-wire method can also be employed where the
demand for accuracy is small.
Three-wire resistance measuring where the three-wire device is part of a
Wheatstone bridge is also common. The resistance to be measured is one of the
four resistances of the bridge. Should this method be preferred, the user can
easily calculate the other three legs of the bridge. For more information please
