11.5 SNMP Setup

Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) is used for network
management. You may use the SNMP configuration page to enable or
disable the SNMP support.

11.5.1 SNMP Configuration Parameters

Table 11.1 describes the configuration parameters available for SNMP
setup.

11.5.2 Configuring SNMP

1. To open the SNMP configuration page, click the System Management
-> SNMP menu.
2. Click on the Enable or Disable radio button to enable or disable the
SNMP support.
3. Enter the RO (read only) and R/W (read and write) community names.
4. Enter the IP address of the SNMP management station that receives
trap messages from the ASUS SL 1200.

Community string is a clear text string that is used as
password between the SNMP management station and the
ASUS SL1200. This Read Only community name is used
by the SNMP management station to read the settings in the
ASUS SL1200.

Trap message is sent by the ASUS SL1200 to tell the SNMP
management station that something has happened on
the router. This field is used to enter the IP address of the
SNMP management station that is supposed to receive trap
messages from the ASUS SL1200.
