Diagnostic Tools

You may like to check whether there is connectivity to a particular website or a
computer on the Internet from the DIR-430, or to evaluate whether there is
certain delay in the network to reach your target host. There are two important
diagnostic tools that help you identify and realize the behavior of the network.
To use these diagnostic tools, click on Tools hyperlink on the top panel, and then
click on Diagnostic Tools on the left hand menu to open the configuration page.
Ping can be used to check whether the host on the Internet can be reached from
the DIR-430. Type an IP address (like 202.56.89.78) / domain name (like
www.yahoo.com) in the edit box provided. Click on Ping button, and wait, to see
the responses as shown below.
When Packets sent/received fields are greater than zero, then the connectivity
exists.
The data in the figure also shows the packet loss percentage in addition to
minimum, maximum and average round trip times.
