The Role of Input/Output Contacts

The serial data unit has input/output contacts which enable communication with the
CPU unit.
These contacts play various roles, such as handling operations when data is output
from the RS232C port, and alerting the CPU unit when sending and reception have
been completed.
The contacts are turned on and off from the CPU unit, which also controls the timing of
serial communication being carried out by the serial data unit.
Input contact (X): Notifies the CPU unit of the serial data unit status.
