    Markers are field-installed, but usually do not have their extension length precisely set. The drill must be leveled per “Leveling the 3S-4000HD/HDF Drill” on page 80, and marker(s) must be in correct working order per “Marker Maintenance” on page 86.

    Always operate farm machinery with safety in mind. General Description On the standard 3S-4000HD/HDF, field operations are controlled by tractor cab hydraulic levers. When openers are lowered, mechanical clutches engage, and the gauge wheels drive the seed meter shafts. Markers, if installed, are on a separate circuit.

    #1 circuit is the circuit designed to supply live hydraulic power to remote locations. On the standard 3S-4000HD/HDF drill, the openers raise and lower as a group, from a tractor cab lever. If the Point Row Option is installed, each section can raise and lower independently, using switches on the point row control module in the tractor cab.
